DQ and Her Random Ramblings

DQ and I spent some quality time together shopping. I had to find some things for a baby shower I am hosting and I needed to go to several different stores to find exactly what I needed. It was a little hard to concentrate. DQ had thoughts about everything. I won't share the entire two and a half hours worth of ramblings with you...I'll just hit the highlights.

First, we hit the craft/hobby store. The aisles are narrow and there is WAY too much to see.
"Mom, did you see that. I loved it, it had stripes. I like stripes, kind of like zebra stripes but MOM...I have always wanted one of these. What is it? Do you hang it up? MOM...if we paint my room orange this would be perfect. ooohhh mom, that scares me, look at that, don't look, it scares me. Mom can I stay here and smell these candles? Don't you trust me not to touch things? MOM...if we paint the living room blue and buy new furniture we could buy these decorations and it would look amazing. Mom, do you think people can see those scratches on your face? Do you think they think we have a cat and you made it mad? How long are they gonna be there? They're, well, mom really, they're kinda ugly. What if they get infected? Will your face fall off? What's a sonic boom? Hey, Mom, if you could travel in time...can people really do that? If you could travel way, way back, like when Elvis Presley was alive...who would you want to meet? Cause I would want to meet Abraham Lincoln. Wait, Mom, can I look in the mirrors? Look, there are a bunch of me here. Isn't that cool? Where are we going now? Can I have a snack? I'm really, really hungry."

Our next stop was the party store...big mistake on my part. DQ has a birthday this month and she has changed her mind about her party a gajillion times.
"Mom I think I want to have a luau party...why are you getting brown? Brown is ugly. No offense Mom. Hey...look...I could have a rock 'n roll party. Wouldn't that be cool? If I have a luau can you wear a coconut bra? That would be cool, huh, Mom? Hey, can we buy balloons today? Would they last til my party? Can I go look by myself? You aren't talking much today Mom. Why not? Got a headache?"

Unfortunately we had to go BACK to the hobby store to get something I forgot. Can't imagine why. I don't really remember anything DQ said there. By then...my ears were too tired to care. Somehow in the midst of this madness DQ talked me into a purse, an Easter basket and some butterflies for her walls...I'm not sure if she asked for them or just put them in the basket.
I came home and the coach left for ballgames...which means I am trapped with DQ for the remainder of the day. She is recovering from a bad sinus infection and is still coughing a lot so I don't want her outside running around. So I did what any bad mom would do. I took her to the library and let her check out videos...she is now happily watching a movie...and I am happily enjoying an hour of peace and quiet.

About Me
I'm a wife, a mom, an educator and a normal (okay, relative term here) person who makes frequent mistakes. I have a lot to say, hence the blog. My kids were adopted as babies (one through an agency and one through the foster care system). I love to talk about adoption. My daughter has sensory issues as well as ADHD. I like to vent about parenting. I am occasionally rosy, usually blunt and sometimes I am simply downright rude. Don't read if it offends you. I may sometimes write about my school experiences so let me cover my bases. I don't live in your town, I don't work at your school, I am not talking about your child, you don't know me. If you think you've figured out who I am...ask me, I will lie and say you don't know me. email me at chocolatecoffeesleep@hotmail.com
