Baseball, BAD dog and Bedtime

So it's baseball season. Yippee. That means my DH is gone most nights of the week umpiring baseball games. Okay, actually, that's not such a bad thing. DQ and flapjack listen to me most of the time. Listen to Dad? Not so much. Is that common? So when it is just the three of us it is relatively peaceful...with the exception of DQ's daily dose of drama. We just can't make it a day without it! Today it had something to do with the dog...who chewed up her favorite flip flops...that she left in the sun room with the dog all day. Bad dog...nope...get a grip DQ. Now the hole in the wall (not actually a hole...more of a minor nibble) that the dog left after chewing up the flip flops...BAD dog!! (We had a little mama drama over that one.)

Bedtime in our house is 8:00 for flapjack and 8:30 for DQ. Flapjack goes to bed easy and falls asleep immediately. (Gosh I love that kid!) DQ...yeah...drama. Her pillow has to be just so, the tiger has to be over her pillow, the blanket has to be soft not itchy, the pj's can't be too tight or too loose (and sometimes the pj's apparently grow/shrink right before bedtime!). It takes a good 30 minutes to get DQ in bed and then about 1 second for her to fall asleep...IF dad is putting her to bed. Tonight it will take 5 minutes to get her in bed and 30 minutes to stop the tears because her dad isn't putting her to bed. Can't wait.

On a side note, I may need to rename DQ...everytime I type those letters I start thinking about a blizzard from Dairy Queen...

About Me
I'm a wife, a mom, an educator and a normal (okay, relative term here) person who makes frequent mistakes. I have a lot to say, hence the blog. My kids were adopted as babies (one through an agency and one through the foster care system). I love to talk about adoption. My daughter has sensory issues as well as ADHD. I like to vent about parenting. I am occasionally rosy, usually blunt and sometimes I am simply downright rude. Don't read if it offends you. I may sometimes write about my school experiences so let me cover my bases. I don't live in your town, I don't work at your school, I am not talking about your child, you don't know me. If you think you've figured out who I am...ask me, I will lie and say you don't know me. email me at chocolatecoffeesleep@hotmail.com
